The Centers goals include but are not limited to:
- An understanding of the individuals diagnosis
- The importance of developing self-advocacy strategies from
a structured learning approach to compensate for pragmatic language
processing deficits
- Social skills training/cognitive processing based step-by-step
approach to successful social communication
- Self-esteem based approach
- Overview of those skill sets which are the foundation skills
or Essential Skills for social success
- Individualized and group treatment techniques
- Consistent/familiar session format
- Weekly communication with parents
- Learning and community oriented accommodations/goals/objectives
based on individual need
- Diagnostic considerations for social skill building
- Case specific: discussion, IEP planning, program planning
- A multi-faceted approach to skill building (speech and language
therapy, occupational therapy, dance/movement, exercise and nutrition training)
